Mentorship & the Public Interest Fellowship
Pair with a mentor, mentor a junior attorney, or apply for a $5,000 fellowship to fund unpaid public-interest legal work.
Public Interest Fellowship
Thanks to its generous sponsors, SABA Greater Boston offers 1–2 Public Interest Fellowships each year as part of its Public Interest Fellowship Program.
Each Fellowship provides up to $5,000 in funding to a law student of South Asian descent working over the summer in an otherwise unpaid legal position at a non-profit or government organization, or to a law student working in an unpaid legal internship focused on the needs of BIPOC and LGBTQ communities.
Applicants must be enrolled for the upcoming academic year (and not graduating that May or June) and in good standing at a U.S. law school. Volunteer internships must be full-time for at least ten weeks and provide substantial legal experience.
See past recipients — 19 fellows since 2009.

Mentorship Program
Every year, the Mentorship Committee runs a year-long Mentorship Program open to all attorneys. Junior attorneys (1–5 years out) can apply as both a mentor to law students and a mentee paired with a more senior attorney.
Throughout the year, SABA GB hosts mentorship and networking events — speed networking, mock interviews, resume reviews, career development panels — to support law students and junior attorneys. Mentors and mentees are also encouraged to connect informally outside of organised events.
The Mentorship Program is a one-year commitment. Past participants have credited their mentors with helping them navigate the market and shape career options.
